Served by the Orange County Public Schools district (OCPS), students living in LaVina have a number of schools in this highly rated school district that will accommodate all of their educational needs. Grade school students attend the Northlake Park Elementary School, and older students can attend any of the 36 middle schools and 18 high schools in the area. Adult learning centers, homebound programs, alternative education institutions, and charter schools are also included within OCPS. A number of parochial and private schools are available throughout Orange County. Local area colleges and institutions of higher learning include University of Central Florida, Warner Southern College, Florida College of Physicians, Columbia College, Valencia Community College, Seminole Community College, and Florida Metropolitan University: Orlando College-South.

Residents of LaVina have a bright future ahead of them with new developments and amenities popping up for the benefit of residents. One of these new developments is called LaVina Village, an upscale development that will feature 130,000 square feet of office and retail space, including two out parcel opportunities for banks and restaurants. Additionally, there are plans for two medical buildings that are also in the works for LaVina Village, and a national homebuilder will be involved in the building and construction of upscale condominiums and townhouses.

As a waterfront community that resides in and around Lake Nona and its namesake golf course, residents never have a moment to say that they’re running out of things to do. Outdoor and water recreation plays a key role in the everyday lives of residents. Nearby golf courses in addition to Lake Nona Golf Course include North Shore Golf Club and Eagle Creek Golf Club, with more located within the Orlando metro area.
